Project overview

An 80-cover Camden restaurant refit that couldn't afford to close for the paintwork. Full interior refresh with deep, saturated colours, wallpaper accents and sprayed ceilings — completed across seven consecutive overnight shifts with the restaurant trading normally every evening.

What the client wanted

  • Zero closed days — restaurant trading every night through the refit
  • Complex two-tone dining-room scheme with a deep green feature wall
  • Sprayed ceilings for a clean, textured finish without visible roller marks
  • Wallpaper hung on the back wall of the bar as a design feature
  • Handover clean and cured before service each evening

Work completed

  • RAMS, PLI documentation and site induction agreed with the operations manager
  • Overnight shifts 11pm–7am for 7 consecutive nights, fully sheeted every night
  • Sprayed ceilings in Zinsser Ceiling Paint using low-overspray airless setup
  • Feature wall in Farrow & Ball 'Studio Green' — 3 hand-cut coats for depth
  • Wallpaper hung on 6m bar wall — pattern-matched across two joins
  • Kitchen-safe washable coating on all back-of-house walls
  • Fully cleaned and ventilated by 9am each morning — zero impact on lunch service

"We didn't lose a single cover. They were out of the building every morning by 8am, ceiling sprayed, walls cured, ready for staff briefing at 10. Genuinely impressive operation."

FAQs

Questions we got on this project

Can you really repaint a restaurant without closing it?

Yes — with proper planning. Overnight shifts, low-VOC paints that cure fast, careful sequencing of wet zones away from prep areas, and a rigorous morning clean-down. We do it regularly across Camden, Shoreditch and the West End.

Do you charge extra for overnight commercial work?

There's a night uplift but it's transparent — priced honestly, not padded. Most operators find the cost of closing for a week far outweighs the uplift.
